How does a shoot work (from start to finish)?
If you have questions about a shoot or are ready to book, the first step is to contact me. We can communicate via email or phone about the specifics of the shoot – timing, location, etc. On the day of the shoot, I will meet you at your preferred location. I generally jump into shooting fairly quickly and take a lot of pictures throughout the session to make sure I get a good selection of images. While I love to have you simply relax and enjoy the moment, I can also give you direction and posing suggestions as we go. (I am open to any suggestions you may have as well.) Once we have reached our approximate time limit and I have enough good pictures to fulfill the agreed amount, I will collect your session fee (if you haven't already gotten it to me), and you are done with your part!
From there, I take your images and carefully select the best ones for a total of approximately 30-40 images. I usually pick out one or two to post as a “sneak peek” on my Facebook page within 24 hrs of the shoot. I then retouch them all, edit an additional black and white copy of each, and load a preview onto a private online album. After viewing, you may order prints or CDs, or simply choose to receive the low-res CD included with your session. Low-res CDs can be ready as soon as the day you receive the link for the private album. Full-res CDs and prints are generally ready within 1 week of your completed order.
Where can a shoot take place?
That's up to you! Since I prefer to work with natural light, most of my photo sessions take place in an outdoor setting. If you have your heart set on an indoor location, however, I am willing to work with that, especially if it is somewhere with ample natural lighting (such as a room with large windows). Please let me know if you have any specific desires or suggestions, and if not, I can provide some of my own. Please note that an extra travel fee may apply for locations outside a 10-mile radius of my home in Knightdale, NC.
What if it rains?
If your preferred location is outdoors (as is always my preference!), a rescheduling of your session may be necessary in case of bad weather. Please keep this in mind in scheduling your session -- planning an alternate date in advance as a back-up is highly recommended. As the date of your session approaches, I will keep an eye on the weather and let you know as soon as possible if it is looking questionable. Feel free to contact me as well with weather concerns and questions if I do not contact you first.
What should I wear?
Whatever you like! I suggest you think about what colors and styles you would like to see when you hang your pictures on the wall, and dress accordingly. Feel free to contact me if you need further ideas.
How long until my pictures are ready?
It generally takes me about 2-3 weeks for me to get through the selection and editing process before I get your preview online. If you need your photos within a specific amount of time under 3 weeks, please let me know, and I will see what I may be able to do to accommodate you. A rush delivery fee may apply if your photos are needed in under 2 weeks.
